Bataan: Post Valentine Daytrip

Another day trip on a weekend after the Valentines Day. I was able to visit and view some of the historical places in Bataan. It was indeed fun though it was just a quick Daytrip. In this day tour, I have covered 3 separate posts of some spots in Bataan that I have spent most hours exploring.

Mount Samat is a historic mountain in the town of Pilar, Bataan. Located in its summit is the Mount Samat National Shrine, a national shrine dedicated to the fallen Filipino and American fallen during World War II. Mount Samat which stands at 555 masl is a parasitic cone of Mount Mariveles with no record of historical eruption.

Click here for a more detailed post about my journey to the Mt Samat - National Shrine located in Bataan.

Dunsulan Falls is Located at the foot of Mount Samat and is just a quick drive if you are coming from the National Shrine. You can asks some locals you see along the way down from Mt. Samat and they will instructed you where to turn left. A detailed posts about this astonishing Dunsulan Falls can be here.

A quick pit stop on our journey from Dunsulan Falls to the Pawikan Conservation is the Fil-Jap Friendship Tower which is located at Bagac, Bataan and was built to commemorate the reconciliation, peace, and friendship between the once warring nations of Philippines and Japan during the World War II.

The monument, symbolizing the renewed friendship between Japan and the Philippines after the events of World War II, was erected by Risshō Kōsei Kai, a Japanese Buddhist organization. The tower was inaugurated on April 8, 1975 and is located about 200 m from where the Bataan Death March started. The 27-metre high tower is composed of three pillars interconnected by several multi-layer rings. It located at the junction of the Gov. Linao National Road and the road to the Bagac town proper

Anyways since we still have to cover a lot more kilometers to reach the Pawikan Conservation Center, we didn't enter the park grounds and just took a picture of it from afar.

Pawikan Conservation Center is located at Pagbalayong, Morong, Bataan. And is one of the farthest among the spots that we have visited in Bataan. It also one of the highlights of our trip as we had the chance to witness the releasing of the hatchlings on the shore.
